Brief
Oregon State University’s University Housing & Dining Services manages all food throughout the university and requires their products to be captured to be used for advertising in restaurants around Oregon State University's campus, and for digital purposes such as food ordering apps.
Photos for University Housing & Dining Services are taken in a variety of settings, from in studios with a background and lighting, to kitchens, to restaurants. This requires knowledge in lighting fundamentals and the ability to work in different environments to ensure that the products are properly lit and captured.
These shoots are done without props, only using the food dishes themselves and the surrounding environment.
Taking these photos is a balance between capturing the product in such a way that it properly displays the food and ensuring that it is visually appealing and appropriate to use in a variety of contexts.
